Urban Youth Empowerment Program
The Urban Youth Empowerment Program targets out-of-school and/or adjudicated youth between 18-24 years old. This high-risk population faces many challenges that could be barriers for success, but the Youth Empowerment Program serves as a catalyst for change.
The goal of the program is to prepare youth for entry into world of work through provision of a comprehensive set of services including:
- Case management
- Community service with faith-based organizations
- Educational upgrades
- Mentoring
- Internships
- On-the-job training
- Occupational skills training
- Personal development
- And unsubsidized employment
Special program elements include:
- Two Counselor/Advocates per Site
- Full Time Job Developer per Site
- Paid Community Service with Faith Based Organizations
- Paid Internships with Private Sector
- Incentives for GEDs and Job Placements
- Support for Transportation, Clothing, etc.
