State Sen. Anthony H. Williams and the Urban League of Philadelphia will host a free foreclosure prevention workshop called “Protect Your Investment.”

The event takes place on Thursday, March 10 from 6 to 8 p.m. at Ezekiel Baptist Church, located at 5701 Grays Ave. in Philadelphia.

“Home ownership is a key component to the financial stability of families and communities,” Williams said. “Providing information to help families keep their homes is important, especially in this economy. Whether you are a financially stable homeowner or struggling with your bills, I encourage everyone to attend this informative workshop.”

Participants will learn how to manage a budget in order to avoid falling behind on their mortgage, as well as how to communicate with their lender when they find themselves becoming late with payments.

There will also be a panel discussion featuring industry experts, including Whitney M. White, a paralegal with SaveYourHomePhilly Hotline, a program offered by the City of Philadelphia; Ronald Branch, national relationship manager, JPMorgan Chase Bank’s Community Advocacy Office; Maisha Elonai, a staff attorney with Philadelphia VIP, an organization that promotes equal justice by providing civil legal services for those in need; Chris DeNardo, partner/managing attorney with Shapiro and DeNardo, LLC.; and Deserie N. Sill, acting manager/housing counselor with the Urban League of Philadelphia.

To register for this workshop, contact Mary Harper at 215-985-3220, ext. 201 or via e-mail at mharper@urbanleaguephila.org.
